We Have Wi-Fi Back!!

Here's a teaser photo for you today. We took this photo in the middle of our performance. We also had the trip photos done in front of the opera house today - they're going to be great!

This has been a busy week. The students have been great. We are 9 hours ahead of you, and have adjusted to the time pretty well. We have been lucky to have beautiful weather so far. Here's a recap of what we've done to date:

Saturday: We arrived, connected with our travel agent and hopped on buses to tour through Paris. We were shown many wonderful sites that we would see later in the week. After that, we went to the hotel to check in and try to stay awake for the welcome dinner. They served us salad greens and cured ham as an appetizer; duck and potatoes, and a pineapple dish for dessert.

Sunday: Left the hotel early for the Palace of Versailles tour. This is a self guided tour through the state rooms of the palace. We saw the king's and queen's bedrooms; the hall of mirrors; and many more interesting pieces and rooms. After Versailles, we went to the Latin Quarter, which is by Notre Dame, to have lunch. Some people took advantage of this time to go visit Notre Dame. Since it was Palm Sunday, we were blessed to see processions occuring through the street along with services going on at the cathedral itself. We were then taken to Montmartre to see La Sacre-Couer (Sacred Heart Church). We then had French Onion soup; Chicken and potatoes; and Flan for dessert at a local restaurant. After dinner we went on the Seine River cruise. It was really nice, but very cold.

Monday: We got up and went to the Louvre for our tours. The 5 - Colorguard members and John Gahagan arrived and we tried to connect up with them. Unfortunately, my cell phone did not work in the Louvre, so they went to the hotel and then met us at Notre Dame for our performance. After Notre Dame we had some time to shop in the Latin Quarter, then on to dinner. We were served salad and bread for an appetizer (they also offered pop with dinner - everyone else gave us water - which we were happy to have, but the pop was an extra treat for the students); pepper steak with a baked potato; and an apple tart for dessert.

Tuesday: Today we went straight to the Eiffel Tower for our performance, then on to the Opera House for our group photos. After that we were given free tine at a nearby shopping mall until it was time for our tour of the opera house - it was amazing! They are now on free time for dinner around the hotel and then it's off to bed to rest for our trip to Disney tomorrow...

Wi-Fi seems to be good now. We will be gone all day tomorrow and back late. I will try to post something tomorrow evening after we get back, but it may not be until Thursday. Here are more pictures for you.

Another update from Doug.  I have spoken to Kim only a few times this trip, for cell coverage is horrible and wireless is non existant.  They have been very busy with their full schedule, and today is the first night they should have some downtime, I believe that's only an hour and a half though.  Kim and Nick have hopes to post something and pictures tonight, though I won't guarentee anything.

She has said the sights have been amazing, and I believe the group has already performed at the Eiffel Tower and should be in full dress for the picture.  I will try and get some more details and post them later today.

We're here!!

Everyone arrived safe and sound, we're all excited, exausted, and ready for bed.  Drove by some of the major sites today that we'll see this week.  I'm sending you this via our home contact, Doug, hoping the wifi is back up tomorrow so we can post some pictures.

We will be having our group photos taken on Tuesday, April 3rd in front of the Opera House. The groups will be as follows:

                        - Show Band, Colorguard and Staff (in uniform)

                        - Chaperone Group (in Paris jackets)

                        - Shadow Group (in Paris jackets)

Each photo will be an 8x12 with an inscription. The cost is $20 per photo. We will only request photos that we have orders for. We will not be ordering extras. If you would like a photo or photos, please send an email to kpabtripcoordinator@gmail.com. I will have limited access to email once we leave, but will watch for requests through 10:00pm Monday evening in Paris (which is 2:00pm here). Once you've ordered the picture via email, please place a check in the KPAB box just inside the band room on the wall. Orders that haven't been paid for by the time we distribute the pictures will be charged to the student's account.
